Elijio Salon and Spa was opened in 1986 by its current president and creative
director, Elijio Marco Recendez.
The salon serves about 400 clients a month. Our clientele ranges from families to college students to executives. The Salon and Spa is located in the beautiful Water Garden Tower, winner of the most prestigious award in architectural design award for five years in a row.

Marco Recendez is a visionary salon owner and hair sculptor. He began his
training in 1986, and since then has not looked back.
Elijio was born into humble beginnings in Mexico City. Being the oldest of nine children has truly developed Elijio into a passionate, caring, open, kind-hearted person. From the moment you meet him, you realize you’re going to receive much more than a fabulous makeover.
At the age of 16, Elijio graduated in the top five of his class from the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Los Angeles, Ca. From 1982 to 1986, he served as a Junior Hair Stylist at Joseph Martin in Beverly Hills, Ca. In 1986, he became co-owner of Trendz Hair Studio in Santa Monica, Ca. Here he was able to increase his knowledge and expertise as a top Image Consultant and brought the business to new heights.
It was at this point in 1991 when Elijio boldly moved out on his own to create Elijio Salon. He now serves as president of Elijio Salon and Spa.
Elijio creates an atmosphere that allows you to see the
beauty within, then turns that inner beauty into an outside reflection.
Vera.
As the salon’s Manicurist & Pedicurist, she spends her time indulging
customers with European skills and techniques she learned while working in
Europe.
Vera has many talents. She is a Mother, Physical Therapist, Manicurist and Pedicurist. Her passion is simple: to care for people. Her seven-year-old son said it best when he said “Mom, you have the most beautiful warm hands in the world”. Her warm hands are certainly generated from her warm heart. As a nurse specializing in physical therapy and reconstructive surgery, Vera still works for a rehab surgery center one week a month offering her healing talents to the center and continuing her education in the field of medicine.
Vera understands that quality of service and products are the most important and essential ingredients for the clientele. Mixed with care and giving is what sets her aside from anyone else.
Nataliya Varhaftig
is Elijio’s Esthetician and Cosmetologist. She studied at the University
of Culture and Cosmetology in Russia and graduated in 1978. She received her
diploma in Entomology in 1981 where she studied skin and body and massage
therapy.
Nataliya is gifted with a great spiritual and positive energy flow. You feel it when you’re in the room with her and her style with the clientele will relax and invigorate you both at the same time. She is a delight to work with.
Previously a personal esthetician and make-up artist to Cristina (The Cuban Oprah Winfrey), the talk show host shows you a glimmer of Nataliya’s vast experience and talent in her field. Nataliya was later promoted to make-up artist for the entire show where she continued to work for some time.
Marriage and children brought Nataliya to California. Here she worked as a beauty consultant for a major department store for six years. The travel was intensive, and her young child asked Mommy if she could be home more often. “Working at Elijio Salon has allowed me to work great hours in a magnificent environment, professional and friendly. To me it was the ultimate answer. I am truly happy to be here.”
Alla Sobol is an
international hair specialist and stylist, with 17 years of experience working
as a colorist.
Originally from Minsk, Belarus. She graduated from the Marinello School of Beauty in Los Angeles. She received her hair color degree from Goldwell In Germany, Majirel Color in Paris, and Matrix International in USA.
She then moved on to work for Carlton Hair International five years in Century City and then at Elizabeth Arden Hair Salon in Beverly Hills for three years. She is currently working at Elijio Salon, where she has been for over ten years; her expertise and knowledge in this field is extensive.
Alla chose a career as a hair stylist/colorist because this has always been her childhood dream. She is always there to listen to the needs of her clients, to offer advice, and to care for them. Clients leave the building looking and feeling beautiful and confident about themselves.
She has chosen to stay with Elijio Salon and Spa for so long because of their
reputation for quality service, relaxed elegant environment and professionalism.
